Latin and Central American Outreach


LatAm Ambassadors

Drawn from jurisdictions around Latin America, Arbitrator Intelligence Ambassadors are a dynamic group of premier experts and practitioners from around Latin America.

Individually and collectively, these Ambassadors are taking the lead in the LatAm AIQ Campaign, a 6-week outreach campaign in October-November 2018 to generate information about arbitrators through the AIQ. During the Campaign and beyond, the Ambassadors will help guide AI’s project development in Latin America and raise awareness about how Arbitrator Intelligence and AIQ responses can increase transparency, accountability, and diversity in Latin America and globally to promote arbitration in Latin America.




Ambassador for Argentina

Ignacio Guaia has been dedicated full time to international commercial arbitration since 2010 and has represented clients from a wide array of industries (including oil & gas, corporate, construction, mining, energy, shipping) and geographical locations (Latin America, Caribbean, Europe).

Raul Pereira Fleury

Ambassador for Brazil

Raul Pereira Fleury is a Senior Associate with Ferrere’s Corporate Group in Asunción. He specializes in corporate and financial transactions, counseling corporations, financial institutions, and public entities mainly on matters related to commercial and distribution contracts, foreign investment, mergers and acquisitions, and joint ventures. In addition, he works closely with the litigation and arbitration group on matters related to international commercial and investment arbitration.


Alvaro Awad

Ambassador for Chile

Alvaro Awad is a Professor of Civil Law at P. Universidad Católica de Chile, where he graduated summa cum laude, and holds an LLM Degree from The University of Chicago. He is a Partner at the dispute resolution boutique Contreras Velozo. Álvaro’s practice is oriented to complex litigation and arbitration, both domestic and international.




Ambassador for Argentina

Pablo Jaroslavsky is an associate at Dechamps International Law, where he represents clients in a wide range of commercial and investment disputes. He also teaches Investment Arbitration at the University of Buenos Aires and coaches its teams in two arbitration moot courts.


Thiago Zanelato

Ambassador for Brazil

Thiago Zanelato is a Brazilian lawyer (Pinheiro Neto Advogados) with experience in domestic and international arbitration. LL.B from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, currently pursuing a Master’s Degree on Law and International Economic Relations in the same institution focusing on comparative arbitration legal systems in Latin America.


Christian Ubeymar Infante Agarita

Ambassador for Colombia

Cristian Ubeymar Infante Angarita is a qualified Colombian lawyer specialized in Colombian Commercial Law, and Master in International Commercial Law, with specific knowledge in international trade, international insurance contracts, and intellectual property, Partner in the Corporate and ADR Team at Capital Law Group, law firm in Colombia that advises on all aspects of Corporate Law, Mergers & Acquisitions and Corporate Finance, as well as a wide range of legal and judicial proceedings. He acts as arbitral tribunal secretary and mediator at the Chamber of Commerce of Bogotá- Centre of Arbitration and Conciliation.

Veronica Sandler is a Professor of investment and commercial arbitration, CG at an International media company, Co-Director of the Diploma course in Arbitration and Academic Coordinator of the Arbitration Department at the Austral University. She has participated as party counsel and tribunal secretary in arbitrations.


Vitor Vieira

Ambassador for Brazil

Vitor Vieira is an associate at Marques Rosado, Toledo Cesar & Carmona Advogados’ arbitration desk, headed by prof. Carlos Alberto Carmona. He participates on international and national commercial arbitral procedures as arbitral tribunal secretary and as an attorney. The arbitral procedures where he acts as an attorney or arbitral tribunal secretary are administered by the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil Canada (CAM-CCBC) and the Chamber of Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration CIESP/FIESP (CMA-CIESP/FIESP).


Carolina Bernal Perez

Ambassador for Colombia

Carolina Bernal Perez is an attorney on Litigation and Arbitration cases. She specializes in public and private international law, state contracts, and has focused on Foreign Exchange Regulation, International Relations and Foreign Trade, International Contract Law, Privatization, Mergers and Acquisitions. She has been serving as adviser for the government of Colombia involved in a working paper of Colombia-EFTA FTAs, and in a project regarding the issue of investment arbitration for the Ministry of Foreign Trade of Colombia. She has been accepted to different first level research Libraries (Harvard University, Library of Congress, George Washington) and Institutions (ICSID, Ministry of Foreign Trade of Colombia). Visitor. She has carried on courses in investment arbitration (Leiden University, American University, WTO-FAO, BID).


Luisa Quintao

Luisa Quintao is an Associate lawyer at Justen, Pereira, Oliveira & Talamini in São Paulo and LLM candidate at PUC-SP. Ms. Quintão’s practice focuses on arbitration conflicts related to infrastructure projects and concession and PPP agreements and she is especially interested in arbitration disputes involving State entities.


Felix Antolin

Felix Antolin is a Senior Associate at Albagli Zaliasnik since 2017, focusing his practice on national and international arbitration, civil, commercial, and natural resource litigation. He holds an LLM from NYU, and a JD from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez. His practice is further complemented by his continuous academic activity.


Nicolas Rosero

Ambassador for Colombia

Nicolás Rosero Espinosa is an associate at Bullard Falla Ezcurra +, a boutique law firm specialized in arbitration. His practice is focused on international and national commercial arbitration, as party attorney and arbitrator’s assistant. He has experience in arbitrations under ICSID, ICC, CIAC and the Lima Chamber of Commerce’s Arbitration Centre (CCL) Rules. He has also acted in arbitrations under the UNCITRAL Arbitration Rules and Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement (CAFTA-DR).

Nicolás has teaching experience at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (Lima) and the National University of Colombia (Bogotá).He is the author of academic articles on arbitration published in national and international journals, and has been a speaker in different conferences on arbitration. He is currently editor of the Blog of Colombian Very Young Arbitration Practitioners (COLVYAP) and member of the Board of Directors in “Arbitraje Alumni”.


Herman Duarte

Ambassador for Costa Rica

Herman Duarte is a writer and lawyer with an LLM in International Commercial Arbitration from Stockholm University (Outstanding Alumnus, 2017). He is the founder of Hduarte Legål, and Officer of the Human Rights Committee of the International Bar Association; awarded as Chambers and Partners Inspirational Lawyer for promoting the LGBT community.


Aracelly Lopez

Ambassador for Costa Rica

Aracelly Lopez is an Arbitration and Dispute Resolution Attorney at Dentons Muñoz. He has successfully represented both Costa Rican and international clients in complex civil, commercial, bankruptcy, and labor litigations, negotiation of settlement agreements, and arbitration matters.


Viviana Mendez

Ambassador for Costa Rica

Viviana Mendez is a Costa Rican attorney, and an International Law Clerk at White & Case, New York. Her practice focuses entirely on international arbitration – both investment and commercial. Prior to joining White & Case, Vivi graduated from Harvard Law School (LL.M.) and from the University of Costa Rica (J.D.).


Macarena Bahamonde

Macarena Bahamonde is an attorney at the International Affairs and Arbitration Department of the Attorney General’s Office of Ecuador. Macarena is an LLM candidate at Queen Mary – University of London. She is an adjunct professor of Arbitration at Universidad San Francisco de Quito.


Emilia Grijalva

Emilia Grijalva is a lawyer graduated with honors from University of the Americas – UDLA. She has a specialization in international arbitration. Is currently Director of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Chamber of Commerce of Quito and Coordinator of the ICC Ecuador Arbitration Commission.


Javier Jaramillo

Ambassador for Ecuador

Javier Jaramillo is a dual-qualified attorney in Ecuador and New York and a senior associate at Pérez Bustamante & Ponce in Quito. He holds an LL.M. from Harvard Law School, is a professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito and Co-director of the Ecuadorian Arbitration Review.


Carolina Arroyo

Ambassador for Ecuador

Carolina Arroyo is a Senior Associate at Andrade Veloz. She is part of the Arbitration and Complex Litigation team and acts as arbitral secretary. Her inter-disciplinary education (law and business administration) enables her to provide specialized advice on commercial disputes.


Mauricio Duarte

Ambassador for Guatemala

Mauricio Duarte is a young attorney that began practicing in the fields of energy, arbitration, litigation, and cross-border transactions, where he successfully practiced for two years before obtaining his LL.M in U.S. Law. As a young associate at QIL+4 Abogados, he focused on the intersection of Blockchain technology and Artificial Intelligence with International Arbitration.


Edson Lopez

Ambassador for Guatemala

Edson Lopez is a partner of INTEGRUM in Guatemala, where he leads education law and arbitration practices. Has experience in commercial and investment arbitration. Currently he is ICC YAF Representative for Latin America and President of the Guatemalan Chapter of the Spanish Club of Arbitration (CEA).


Guillermo Coronado

Ambassador for Mexico

Guillermo Coronado is a professor at law at Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM) campus Guadalajara, where he teaches Commercial Treaties and ADR, and he is the coach for the Willem C. Vis Arbitration Moot team. His personal focus is on International Adjudication and the overlapping of jurisdictions. Guillermo is currently Counsel at Coronado Figueroa y Asociados.


Christa Mueller

Ambassador for Mexico

Christa Mueller founded the law firm Mueller Abogados, in April 2016, specializing in commercial arbitration and litigation. Christa acts primarily as arbitrator in the fields of infrastructure, energy and construction.


Daniel Garcia Barragan

Ambassador for Mexico

Daniel Garcia Barragan is a partner of Garcia Barragan Abogados, where he concentrates his practice in national & international arbitration. Prior to joining Garcia Barragan, Daniel was part of the disputes group of a New York law firm. He holds a LL.M. International Arbitration from NYU.


Luis Alberto King

Daniel Cuentas

Daniel Cuentas is a lawyer graduated from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas – UPC and focuses his professional practice in corporate law, litigation and arbitration. He is an associate at Osterling Abogados and has been a speaker in arbitration conferences.

Diana Garate holds an LL.M. from Columbia University in NYC. She is a senior associate at Rebaza, Alcazar & de las Casas focusing her practice in Projects & Infrastructure an Arbitration. She has been an International Associate from the Latin American Arbitration Department at Cleary Gottlieb in NYC.


Carla De Los Santos

Carla de los Santos is associate at Simons Solución de Controversias. Her practice focuses on international and national commercial arbitral procedures as an attorney. She is a founding member of Peruvian Young Arbitrators, association whose purpose is promote good arbitration practices.


Lucero Garcia Silva

Lucero Garcia Silva is a graduate lawyer from Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC). She currently works at the Special Commission representing the Republic of Peru in International Investment Disputes of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and is Co-Founder of Lima Very Young Arbitration Practitioners.
