As a confirmation of the successful campaign of Arbitrator Intelligence in Latin America and thanks to the work of its Ambassador in Costa Rica: Herman Duarte, Arbitrator Intelligence and the International Center for Conciliation and Arbitration (“CICA” for its initials in Spanish) from Costa Rica have signed a Cooperation Agreement whereby CICA became the first Latin American arbitral institution that will use the Arbitrator Intelligence Questionnaire (AIQ) to promote diversity, accountability, and transparency in International Commercial Arbitration.

According to this agreement, CICA will send the AIQs to parties’ counsel that resolve their disputes through the arbitrations administered by this institution. The AIQs will be filled confidentially by the responders. Then, the information collected will be published in the Arbitrator Intelligence Reports (AIR) produced by AI in collaboration with Kluwer Arbitration. Hence, the Arbitral Community will have more accurate, reliable and precise data to make better decisions in the future appointment of arbitrators.

CICA is the arbitral center of the Costa Rican – American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham), which provides dispute resolution services for regional and global parties to resolve their disputes in an effective and expeditious manner.  AmCham is composed of more than 380 multinational and local companies, represented by approximately 4500 industry leaders. AmCham Costa Rica provides the most sophisticated support and resources to help its members meet the challenges of the global marketplace of the future.
