As an independent arbitrator based in Brussels, Belgium, José Rafael Mata Dona specializes in international commercial arbitration and investment arbitration. He has been a Member of the Caracas Bar Association (Venezuela) since 2002, the Barcelona Bar Association (Spain) since 2011, and the Brussels Bar (Belgium) since 2012. Additionally, Mr. Mata Dona has been an accredited mediator at the Belgian Federal Mediation Commission since 2014, and he is available to participate worldwide as Chairman of Tribunal, Sole Arbitrator, Co-arbitrator, Party’s Counsel, Expert coordinator or Expert facilitator in International Institutional Arbitration, International Ad Hoc Arbitration, and Domestic Arbitration. Mr. Mata Dona is a Member of the following arbitral institutions and arbitral forums: ICDR Young & International Associates, ICC Young Arbitrators Forum, LCIA Young International Arbitration Group, Cepani, Cepani40 and DIS-40. He is fluent in Spanish, English, French, and Czech.
Mr. Mata Dona has been an enthusiastic supporter of Arbitrator Intelligence throughout his membership. He has contributed multiple arbitral Awards as well as aided in locating Awards through Belgian and Venezuelan court cases.
