Maria Irene is a junior associate in White & Case’s international arbitration group in Paris. She works exclusively in the field of international arbitration, with a focus on construction and energy-related matters (especially gas pricing disputes). She previously worked in the arbitration group of Castaldi Mourre and Partners, Paris Office, under the mentorship of Alexis Mourre, the new President of the ICC Court of Arbitration. Maria Irene was educated at the Bocconi University of Milan (Italy), Strasbourg University and University of Paris XII (France), where she specialized in arbitration, international litigation, ADR, and international law. She was a member of the Bocconi Team during the XIX Willem C. Vis Moot and an oralist in Vienna, and is now a supporting coach for her team. She coached the SciencePo team for the ICC Mediation Moot in 2013. She is a member of ArbIT, Young ICCA, ICC YAF, ICDR Y&I, PVYAP and a contributor to the Board of Directors of Paris Place d’Arbitrage.
Maria has been extremely active supporting Arbitrator Intelligence both in- and outside of cyberspace. From the very beginning, she played a pivotal role promoting AI internationally through her extensive Vis Moot network and by helping arrange informational lectures on the project in France. Additionally, she has played a fundamental role in the search for Italian arbitration Awards. Through these efforts and more, she has proven an exemplary member of the AI community.
