November 12, 2015

Longtime Arbitrator Intelligence Member and supporter, Mahmoud Kamal Mohammed Mourad, has been appointed for life (until age 70) to serve as Judge at Egypt’s Ismaa’liah Court of Appeal.  His tenure will begin retroactively from July 1, 2015.  Congratulations Judge Mourad!

Judge Mourad remains affiliated with the Court of Cassation as a member of the Technical Bureau (the “think and reseach tank” of the Court os Cassation), where he has served since 2010.  Additionally, he is also a member (researcher) at the study and research department in the Higher Commission of Legislation Reform in Egypt.

The Supreme Council of the Judiciary appoints all judges and promotes them according to certain criteria regarding their time in office, reports of their professional standards, and ethics. This year, 300 judges were promoted to Judges at Courts of Appeals all over Egypt.  Judges in the Court of Cassation’s Technical Bureau have the priority to be selected as Judges at the Court of Cassation after 3 years of their promotion to “Judges at the Courts of Appeals”.
